My Story

As a young teen I started volunteering with a non for profit disability support organisation to complete a community service placement.

It didn't take long before my Friday nights and weekends were booked with activities, camps and social events. I quickly found my passion for supporting others. Throughout my teens I spent my weekends and school holidays supporting children with disabilities.

I then became a paid support worker and quickly began learning how to be a recreation and program leader for camps and activities.

I completed my bachelor of primary education at Australian Catholic University, and taught my first year as a graduate at a special development school. I had now combined my two passions my love for supporting others and my love for learning. Throughout my teaching journey I taught in both mainstream and special education schools and loved it!

This therefore had me wondering could I somehow do both? So I decided to be brave and jump into the unknown and created Soar Together. An inclusive community that offers individual support and educational resources for; support workers, educators and people with disabilities.  At Soar Together we truly are passionate about making the world more accessible for everyone.

A note for Jade

When I started volunteering I met a cheeky, funny and determined girl named Jade. Jade became my best friend and changed my life. She taught me very quickly that it was her abilities and love for life that mattered most.

Jade was a little dare devil, always up for an adventure. We did so much together; swimming, canoeing, horse riding, football, cooking, trampolining, crafting, camping, surfing, dancing, concerts, rollerskating, bike riding and so much more. She would simply use her communication device and say "I want to do what the others are doing" so we made it happen.

Soar Together has been built on the foundation of increasing accessibility and supporting our clients to do what they want without limitations.

Jade's favorite color was purple. The Soar Together Logo was made in memory of Jade.

Thank you Jade for teaching me he importance of having fun and flying together. â€‹â€‹
